Harvard University’s tax-exempt status will be revoked by the administration, US President Donald Trump announced on Friday.

“The tax-exempt status of Harvard will be revoked. It is what they are due. Trump stated in a social media post.

The Ivy League university’s eagerly anticipated internal investigation report on campus antisemitism was made public on Tuesday. It revealed that the university had a hostile atmosphere toward Jews, Israelis, and Muslims.

In a statement, Harvard interim president Alan Garbar stated, “I apologize for the times when we fell short of the high standards we rightfully set for our community.”

This action follows the Trump administration’s decision to freeze $2.2 billion in multiyear federal grants because Harvard refused to assist in eradicating bigotry and antisemitism on campus.

In response, Harvard had previously stated that the loss of its tax-exempt status would compromise its educational mission, important research, and student financial aid.
