“And today was the 61st day,” President Trump claimed in an interview with news agency Reuters, adding that he had issued Tehran a 60-day ultimatum after first attempting to postpone an Israeli strike to give Iran enough time for diplomacy and communication.

Washington D.C. : US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he is “not concerned” about a regional conflict starting after Israel killed Iran’s top nuclear scientists and commanders and targeted and damaged Iran’s military and nuclear facilities.

“And today was the 61st day,” President Trump claimed in an interview with news agency Reuters, adding that he had issued Tehran a 60-day ultimatum after first attempting to postpone an Israeli strike to give Iran enough time for diplomacy and communication.

The US president did, however, express optimism that nuclear negotiations with Iran will continue. Washington will proceed as planned with discussions set for Sunday in Oman, he added, but he is skeptical that Iran will join in the wake of Israel’s massive onslaught. On June 15, US special envoy Steve Witkoff will meet with a group from Iran.

President Trump stated that Iran still has time to “make a deal before it is too late” just hours after advising Tehran to do so. “Iranian hardliners spoke bravely, but they didn’t know what was about to happen,” President Trump said early Friday on his Truth Social account, highlighting the growing pressure on Iran. Now that they are all dead, things will only become worse.

The US president said on Friday morning that he was aware that Israel would attack Iran’s ballistic missile and nuclear plants. On the evening of June 8, the President gathered his senior national security advisors at Camp David for what he claimed were talks about Iran. The next day, he claimed, he also discussed Iran with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“We were aware of everything, and I made every effort to spare Iran from death and dishonor. I would have delighted to see a transaction come to fruition, so I made a concerted effort to save them. It’s not too late, though, and they can yet come to an agreement,” Trump stated.]

President Trump told Reuters that the US has “been very close to Israel” and that he fully supports the country. We are by far their greatest ally. The US president responded to a question concerning Iran’s counteroffensive by saying, “We’ll see what happens.”

The Israeli military claimed that its air defenses were intercepting 100 drones that Tehran launched towards Tel Aviv in retaliation for Israel’s initial attack on Friday. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the top leader of Iran, has threatened Israel with a “bitter and painful” future because of the attacks.
