According to Deadline, the movie version of Colleen Hoover’s book Verity, which has Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett in the main parts, has finally been given a release date.
On May 15, 2026, Amazon MGM’s Studio-led version of Colleen Hoover’s book is scheduled to open in theaters. Michael Showalter is the director. Nick Antosca wrote the screenplay.
Deadline claims that the Nick Antosca adaptation centers on Dakota Johnson’s character, Lowen Ashleigh, a poor writer who, under unexplained circumstances, is employed as a ghostwriter for famous author Verity Crawford (Anne Hathaway). But after finding disturbing autobiographical notes, her work takes a sinister turn. When confronted with a string of lethal family secrets, Lowen finds it difficult to distinguish fact from fiction and blurs the boundaries with Verity’s husband, Jeremy (Josh Hartnett).
Hoover & Lauren Levine, Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, Will Honley, and April Maguire were among the previous authors of the script. According to Deadline, the producers of the movie include Antosca, Alex Hedlund, Stacey Sher, Showalter, Jordana Mollick, Hathaway, and Hoover.
The film is based on Collen Hoover’s previous version of the book It Ends With Us, which starred Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively in the key parts. With over 346 million USD at the global box office, it was a summertime sleeper hit.
Variety reports that Hoover self-published his book Verity in 2018 before Grand Central Publishing purchased it in 2021.
In 2023 alone, it sold over a million copies and lasted months on the New York Times Best Sellers list.
The actress from Fifty Shades of Grey, meanwhile, will be seen in Madame Web, the final Marvel movie in which she starred. Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Celeste O’Connor, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott all played significant roles in the SJ Clarkson-directed film.
