During the semi-final week of the Miss World Chile pageant, also known as the Miss Mundo Chile contest, Ignacia Fernández’s death-metal performance on stage left judges and the audience speechless. The competition’s winner is the Chilean model and death metal singer.
The 27-year-old model founded Decessus, a progressive death metal band, and serves as its lead vocalist. Ignacia astonished everyone in the room by roaring through the original song while sporting a sheer black gown and flawlessly styled hair. Carlos Palma, her guitarist, joined her on stage during the performance. As part of the pageant’s talent competition, she decided to highlight this unique talent by performing one of their songs.
This was a risky move, but it paid off when she became viral and received a standing ovation from the judges for doing something so original. She also won the title of Miss World Chile 2025. Ignacia will now compete in the international Miss World pageant the following year.
Ignacia shared her happiness on Instagram following her victory in the Miss World Chile event. “Couldn’t be more happy and grateful,” she wrote. I accept this lovely challenge with all of my heart and energy in order to best represent my nation. I pledge to give it everything I’ve got—passion, effort, and purpose. I’m grateful for my singing’s global recognition; it’s a small part of my spirit that motivates me to keep developing and having huge dreams.
She is regarded as one of Chile’s leading models and a well-known animal activist. She was born in Santiago in 1998. She co-founded Decessus in 2020, according to a Vice story. Along with guitarist Carlos, the group also includes bassist Jaime Pepe and drummer François Fénix. They have developed over time to perform on major stages, opening for acts like Epica, Jinjer, and Insomnium.
Following her on-stage appearance, Ignacia posted a video of the show along with a brief caption. “Metal has been an essential component of my identity as a person and in my life—a haven, a source of courage, and a source of meaning. I really appreciate the chance to share it on stage at @chilevision and @misschilemundo. She wrote, “It was a great experience to break down barriers on open television, inspire, be real with it, and show that you don’t have to fear the prejudices of others.”
