Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, was fact-checked by his own administration in Karnataka after a statewide poll conducted by the Siddaramaiah-run government revealed that the majority of people think Indian elections are free and fair, and that people’s confidence in electronic voting machines (EVMs) has grown.

According to a Deccan Herald story, Chief Electoral Officer V Anbukumar commissioned the poll, which included 5,100 respondents from 102 Assembly constituencies in the administrative divisions of Bengaluru, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, and Mysuru.

According to a research released by the Department of Planning, Program Monitoring and Statistics’ Karnataka Monitoring and Evaluation Authority, 84.55% of respondents said that elections in India were held in a free and fair manner.

According to the survey, 83.61% of respondents thought EVMs were reliable. This was a significant rise from 77.9% in 2023, indicating a rise in people’s trust in EVMs. “Kalaburagi division had the highest level of trust, with 83.24% agreeing and 11.24% strongly agreeing, followed by Mysuru division with 70.67% agreeing and 17.92% strongly agreeing,” the report stated.

Since Rahul Gandhi had led the drive to steal votes from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the survey’s results went against the Congress. According to reports, the Karnataka Congress government has decided to reintroduce vote papers for local body elections because of a “lack of trust” in electronic voting machines.

Karnataka Survey Reaction from the BJP

Rahul Gandhi was referred to as the “Leader of Propaganda” by BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla, who claimed that the Karnataka Congress government had given a “tight slap” to his lies.

When the Congress wins elections in Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal, Rahul Gandhi has no issues with the Election Commission; nevertheless, when he loses, he places the blame on the electoral body. He said, “Dosh deta me nahi beta me hai (The problem lies with the son, not the data) but he does not want to accept it because he is living in a delusion.”
