“If they (Ukraine) want, please, let these negotiations take place,” President Putin said, assuring Ukraine that Kyiv will not be excluded from the talks. And we’ll be prepared to resume talks at the table.”
Moscow: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has received assurances from Vladimir Putin that Kyiv will undoubtedly be a part of the talks aimed at putting an end to the country’s three-year conflict. For the first time since Tuesday’s pivotal Russia-US meeting in Saudi Arabia, President Putin said it was a significant step in the direction of resolving the dispute.
He claimed that increasing trust between Moscow and Washington, which he defined as “below zero” as a result of the Biden administration, would be crucial to success. Regarding the gathering of Russian and American diplomats, Putin stated, “I think we have taken a first step to resume work in a variety of areas that are of mutual interest.”
“Without increasing the level of trust between Russia and the United States, it is impossible to resolve many issues, including the Ukrainian crisis,” he stated.
Concerned that an agreement between Moscow and Washington would overlook their crucial security concerns, Ukraine and the European Union have voiced their fears about being left out of the negotiations between Russia and the US. Regarding this, Mr. Putin stated that Moscow has never turned down negotiations with Kyiv or Europe; rather, it is they who have declined to communicate with Moscow.
“If they (Ukraine) want, please, let these negotiations take place,” President Putin said, assuring Ukraine that Kyiv will not be excluded from the talks. And we’ll be prepared to resume talks at the table.”
“A hysterical reaction is not necessary. “Ukraine is not being excluded,” he continued.
The Russian president praised Donald Trump, saying he valued his “restraint” in the face of “boorish behavior” by US friends. He continued by saying that while he would be “happy to meet with Donald (Trump),” the current state of affairs makes it insufficient to simply sit down and discuss the future over tea or coffee. To find answers that are acceptable to both parties, we must make sure that our teams prepare problems that are crucial for both Russia and the United States, including but not limited to the Ukrainian track.”
“Kyiv cannot recognize any agreements or things discussed about us without us,” President Zelensky remarked in reference to Tuesday’s meeting, to which he was not invited. Hours prior to the Russia-US conference, European leaders convened in Paris to deliberate on Washington’s significant policy change in favor of Moscow.
