On national highways throughout the nation, the updated toll prices for drivers went into effect on Tuesday.

The National roads Authority of India (NHAI) has raised toll prices on national roads and expressways by an average of 4 to 5 percent on highway segments nationwide, meaning that commuters would have to pay extra for their travels.

According to a senior roads ministry official who spoke to PTI, the updated toll prices for drivers on national highways nationwide went into effect on Tuesday.

Toll rate increases on all national roads and expressways are independently announced by NHAI.

He claims that the toll fee adjustment is a yearly process to update the rates that correspond to shifts in the wholesale price index-based inflation. It is put into effect every year on April 1.

According to the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008, there are approximately 855 user fee plazas on the national highway network where fees are collected. Of them, 180 are toll plazas run by concessionaires, while about 675 are fee plazas supported by the government.

The travelers on important roads throughout the nation, such as the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and the Delhi-Meerut Expressways, will be impacted by the updated prices.
