According to authorities on Sunday (April 27), a foreign national on an IndiGo flight headed for Bengaluru claimed to be carrying a “bomb,” causing a panic to break out at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. According to authorities, the incident happened on Saturday night, and the Canadian passenger has been taken into custody. In this case, security detectives are questioning and looking into the man.
The aircraft was taken to the isolation bay for a comprehensive examination after the bomb fear, but no explosive material was discovered, according to Puneet Gupta, the airport’s director. Following the passenger’s assertion, he said, the IndiGo crew immediately alerted Air Traffic Control (ATC) about the threat.
The plane touched down safely at Varanasi airport.
“Yesterday, April 26, a passenger on the IndiGo flight that departed from Varanasi reported that there was a bomb inside the aircraft,” stated Akash Patel, DCP Gomti zone, Varanasi. Following that, the flight was forced to land at Varanasi airport when emergency procedures were started. Both the aircraft and the passengers’ bags were inspected. The information was later discovered to be a fraud. The Canadian traveler who provided this information, Nishant, was turned over to the police. After being questioned by every security agency, it was discovered that he had provided false information in order to cause the airport’s operations to be delayed. The Canada High Commission will also be notified that a formal complaint has been filed against him under the relevant laws.

According to routine security procedures, the flight was examined and grounded. According to sources, the plane left for Bengaluru today after being cleared by security agencies.
In an official statement, Indigo said the following.
On April 26, a bomb threat received prior to takeoff caused a delay of flight 6E 499, which was traveling from Varanasi to Bengaluru. IndiGo said in a statement that all standard operating protocols were followed, the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay in accordance with protocol, and the passengers were safely disembarked.
“We deeply appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation of our customers,” added the statement. A thorough investigation is currently ongoing.
