As the Central Railway imposes a six-hour massive block near CSMT station for crucial Carnac Bridge reconstruction work, Mumbai’s suburban and long-distance train services would be severely disrupted. Between January 25 and 26, commuters should be ready for changes to their travel schedule.

Local update from Mumbai: On the intervening nights of January 25 and 26, suburban train operations will continue to be impacted by a massive block on six Central Railway lines. During the mega block, numerous long-distance rail operations will also be hindered.

DRM Mumbai CR was informed on Friday that a six-hour block would be implemented for the continuing reconstruction of the Carnac Bridge near the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus station.

During the mega block period, which runs from 11:30 pm to 5:30 am, Mumbai suburban services to and from CSMT could not be available. Six CSMT lines and two Harbour Line local and main express lines will stay closed during the blokc period.

Between Byculla and CSMT, suburban services—that is, the UP and DOWN SLOW and FAST lines—will continue to be closed between the main line. There will be no services during the mega block.During the mega block, the UP and DOWN Harbour lines between Vadala Road and CSMT will also not operate.

Mumbai railway block: How many long-distance trains will be affected?

About 14 long-distance trains will be impacted by the block, according to CPRO. Dadar station will be the final stop for eleven trains that arrive at Mumbai CSMT. Two trains that are supposed to leave CSMT will also leave from Dadar station. At Ambarnath station, another train will stop for a longer period of time.

The mega block was revealed in response to the Indian Railway Division’s request to continue rebuilding the Road Over Bridge’s (ROB) second span. Central Railway CRPO Swapnil Dhanraj Nila informed ANI that the Railway Board had approved the block.

On the intervening night of the 25th and 26th, at 23.38 hours, two mail express trains would leave Dadar, including one from Dadar to Amritsar (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) and another from Dadar to BSB Banaras (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus) at 00.30 hours. The last local on the Harbour line will run from Panvel to CSTM at 21.40 hours, and the local from CSTM to Panvel will run at 22.58 hours,” he continued.
