A Danish politician has gone viral for expressing his displeasure with the US president in a straightforward manner while Donald Trump continues to go all out with his Greenland gambit. Anders Vistisen, a member of the European Parliament, asked Trump to “f*** off” during a recent debate at the European Union’s legislative body because Greenland was not for sale.

In the video, Vistisen, 38, delivered the rebuke while speaking at a meeting about US interest in Greenland in the context of Trump’s push to purchase the Arctic country.

What a Danish Lawmaker Said

Please pay close attention, President Trump. For eight hundred years, Greenland was a part of the Danish kingdom. The nation is integrated. “It’s not for sale,” he declared.

“Let me put this in words you might understand: Mr. President, f*** off,” Vistisen continued.

He then carried on speaking in Danish, but Parliament Vice President Nicolae Stefanuta quickly cut him off, criticizing his language and threatening repercussions.

“This is against our rules, colleague. I apologize,” Stefanuta informed him.”We have explicit guidelines on offensive language and profanity in this space. I apologize for interrupting you. Even if you have strong political opinions about this, it is inappropriate,” he continued.

After the admonition, Vistisen spoke in Danish for the rest of his remarks.

The Greenland Gambit by Trump

A day before attending the World Economic Forum, where he would be the focal point of a sinister, self-made drama about the future of the autonomous Danish territory, Trump viciously ridiculed Europeans. The US president has increased public pressure over the past week for the acquisition of the militarily important Arctic area.

As the Arctic melts and the superpowers vie for geopolitical dominance, Trump maintains that mineral-rich Greenland is essential for US and NATO security against China and Russia.

By threatening tariffs of up to 25% on eight European nations for supporting Denmark, he has increased the pressure, leading Europe to vow retaliation against the United States.
