Although the descriptor “chic” is frequently used, is it more than just a catchphrase?
Don’t get us wrong, the word “chic” has always been used in Harper’s Bazaar, but it was once only used to compliment Yves Saint Laurent collections or to characterize Coco Chanel’s style. The term has become so ingrained in our language that it is difficult to distinguish between items that are truly chic and those that are merely labeled as such. Are you still perplexed? Sydney Sweeney, who was genuinely the pinnacle of style when she came out in New York City yesterday night, is the perfect example of this.
She accessorized her slinky black dress with a chic fur stole to highlight the drop-waist silhouette for her evening out in Greenwich Village. Both items were taken from Ferragamo’s winter 2024 collection by Sweeney’s stylist, Molly Dickson. The long sleeves of her dress then showed through the fuzzy brown item that the actor had put diagonally across her shoulders. As Sweeney walked down the sidewalk, the stole was secured in place by metallic clasps and a leather accent.
Naturally, a little black dress looks best with accessories, and the Euphoria star’s extravagant outerwear wasn’t the only thing she wore. She wore a sleek, grained leather version of Chloé’s Bracelet Hobo Bag, which she carried about by its iconic top handles, and a pair of black leather gloves to keep her hands warm.
