Mbappe might only play in the last group match against RB Salzburg after missing Real Madrid’s FIFA Club World Cup opening.
Los Blancos announced on Tuesday that Kylian Mbappe, the star player for Real Madrid, had been discharged from the hospital in the United States following a stomach ailment.
The club described Mbappe’s illness as “an acute case of gastroenteritis,” and he was brought in for testing and treatment while attending the Club World Cup in the USA.
Diarrhea and vomiting are symptoms of gastroenteritis, an infection of the digestive tract.
According to a statement released by Los Blancos, “Our player Kylian Mbappe was released from the hospital this afternoon and has returned to the Real Madrid training camp.”
They also stated that Mbappe will progressively resume his team activities after completing appropriate medical therapy.
After playing for France in the UEFA Nations League, Mbappé initially exercised with new coach Xabi Alonso at Madrid’s Valdebebas training facility last Friday. On Saturday, he and his colleagues took a plane to the United States.
In Alonso’s debut game as manager, his team played Al-Hilal in a 1-1 tie on Wednesday, although the French striker was absent.
Prior to the game in Miami, Alonso stated on Tuesday that the 26-year-old forward had been “feeling a little better” following an illness.
In place of Mbappe, 21-year-old Gonzalo Garcia of the Madrid B team started and gave Real Madrid the lead over their Saudi Arabian rivals.
The Frenchman who won the World Cup might not play for Real Madrid again when they play Pachuca on Sunday.
Mbappe might make a comeback for Real Madrid’s last group match against Salzburg on June 26 if he is unable to recover in time to play Pachuca.
Real Madrid is one of the favorites to win the month-long competition, and the French football player is among the elite players competing in this year’s Club World Cup, which is in its first year of a new structure that involves growth to 32 clubs.
With 31 goals in La Liga during his first season with Real Madrid, Mbappe was named the European Golden Shoe winner; yet, Los Blancos did not win any major trophies at the end of the season.
Real Madrid, who is now two points behind RB Salzburg in second place in their group, will be vying for the Club World Cup, which would be Alonso’s first title as manager.
