Hamidi passed away as Iran intensified its crackdown in response to recent protests, making additional arrests while allowing Washington to continue nuclear talks.
According to reports, an Iranian man committed suicide after sharing a video of himself on social media pleading with US President Donald Trump to avoid negotiating with Iran’s theocratic government. The individual, named by Iranian media as Pouria Hamidi, made the demand in a 10-minute and 44-second video. He appealed for foreign involvement against Iran’s religious leadership and stated the purpose of the film was to raise awareness of what he described as a fatal crackdown on rallies in Iran.
If you’re watching this, then I’m not around anymore,” Hamidi, a resident of Iran’s southern port city of Bushehr, said in a video going viral on social media.
“More than 40,000 people died, killed, massacred, more than the Russia-Ukraine war, and more than the Israel-Palestine war,” he said during the video posted on his YouTube channel ‘PoorY X‘ on February 5. Hamidi captioned his video: “This Is My Sacrifice – Please, Free My Country”.
In the English-language film, Hamidi spoke directly to the American leadership and urged them to pursue any diplomatic deal with Tehran, claiming that any deal with the regime of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei would “betray all those people who died.”Therefore, I implore you to take all necessary steps to halt this transaction,” he stated.
President Trump of the United States, he claimed, had instructed the Iranians to “keep protesting, and we did, we trusted him.” However, he went on to say that Iranians cannot defeat the Islamic regime without outside assistance and that it is impossible to combat armed men.
“The only hope we have at the moment is America attacking Iran,” Hamidi stated. “We cannot defeat this tyranny on our own. Foreign intervention is necessary for our people.
Additionally, he endorsed Prince Reza Pahlavi of Iran, who is currently in exile, calling him “the best choice to make a transitional government.” Outside of Iran, he urged different opposition groups to “come together and stop fighting each other.”You have no idea how hopeless our folks are at the moment. I mean, I am unable to eat. “I’m having trouble sleeping,” he said.Being born in a location like this and having no future is so ridiculous that I can’t even get myself to cry over it. But after all of this, I thought that my country’s citizens would at last have a future,” he continued.
Hamidi expressed his desire that Iranians will help one another and explained that the film was made with the intention of giving his life purpose. “We Iranians are lonely and have no one, so please support each other,” he said as the recording came to a close, switching to Persian. Iran International Report says, “Long live Iran.”
After posting the footage, Hamidi allegedly committed suicide.

Hamidi’s death came as Iran stepped up its crackdown after recent protests, making more arrests while holding the door open to Washington for further nuclear negotiations. The arrests—including that of Javad Emam, the spokesperson for the main reformist coalition—came after Iranian and US officials held talks in Oman that both sides painted as positive.
On Saturday, Iran heaped more jail time on Nobel Peace Prize winner Narges Mohammadi, and on Monday arrested Hossein Karoubi, the son of prominent dissident Mehdi Karoubi. Weeks after repressing a wave of protests, one of the greatest challenges to the government since it came to power in the 1979 Islamic revolution, Tehran has taken a two-track approach.
In addition to exploring a possible diplomatic opening with the government of US President Donald Trump, it is apprehending and imprisoning alleged dissidents.
