According to recently made public emergency dispatch recordings, Victoria Jones, the daughter of Oscar-winning actor Tommy Lee Jones, may have overdosed on drugs. In the early hours of Thursday, January 1, Victoria, 34, was discovered unconscious at the San Francisco Fairmont Hotel. She was declared dead at the scene.

The Cleveland Clinic states that heart or lung problems are frequently linked to cyanosis.

Investigation and emergency response

At at 2:52 a.m. on January 1, the San Francisco Police Department and San Francisco Fire Department both responded to reports of a medical emergency at the Fairmont Hotel. PEOPLE was informed by both departments that when they arrived at the location, they found a deceased person who was not yet identified.

Authorities do not suspect foul play in connection with Victoria’s death, a police source subsequently told NBC Bay Area. The formal cause of death has not yet been established, and more information is awaiting the findings of the medical examiner’s examination.

Tommy Lee Jones, 79, and his ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley were the parents of Victoria. Additionally, the ex-couple has a 43-year-old son named Austin Jones.

Acting and previous legal issues

According to court documents that PEOPLE examined, Victoria had been arrested at least twice in the previous 12 months. She was arrested in Napa County, California, on April 28, 2025, and charged with three misdemeanors: possession of a controlled substance without a legitimate prescription, being under the influence of a controlled substance without a valid prescription, and impeding a peace officer. She entered a not guilty plea to the accusations.

On June 17, less than two months later, Victoria was taken into custody once more in Napa County on suspicion of misdemeanor domestic abuse. On July 1, she pleaded not guilty.

Following in her father’s footsteps, Victoria pursued acting despite her own challenges. She starred alongside Tommy Lee Jones in the films Men in Black II (2002) and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (2005). In 2003, she also appeared briefly in a One Tree Hill episode.
