Prior to the forthcoming three-match ODI series against India, which begins on October 19, Australia has called up Queensland batsman Matthew Renshaw. In lieu of Pat Cummins, who is still recuperating from lumbar bone stress in anticipation of the Ashes, Mitchell Marsh will captain the 15-man team. Renshaw, who has played 14 Test matches so far, was called up as a cover for the 2022 ODI team in Pakistan but has not yet made his debut. The speed assault, which also includes Xavier Bartlett and Ben Dwarshuis, would be led by veterans Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood in Cummins’ place.

Last season, Renshaw was a sensation for Queensland, amassing 350 runs at an average of 50. Additionally, he recently scored 80, 106, and 62 against Sri Lanka A.

The 29-year-old will likely play his first game against a formidable Indian squad. Young batsman Shubman Gill, who just took Rohit Sharma’s place as ODI captain, will captain the visitors.

Five T20Is will follow the ODIs, and Australia has selected a 14-man team for the first two of those matches.

In order to play in South Australia’s Sheffield Shield match against Queensland at Adelaide Oval on October 15, Alex Carey will miss the first ODI in Perth. In order to concentrate on the forthcoming Ashes match against England, he will also miss the T20Is.

Following surgery last week to treat a fractured wrist, Glenn Maxwell is expected to miss the T20 series.
