FASTag Annual Pass: Last month, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari unveiled the FASTag yearly pass, which functions similarly to a paid digital subscription. Users may now review information on the pass, including eligibility, validity, benefits, and the application process, on the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) website. The pass is scheduled to be introduced in August.
What is an annual pass for FASTag?
The yearly pass, which costs Rs 3,000 and is good for up to 200 travels or a year from the date of activation, will go on sale on August 15. Only at National Highway and Expressway fee plazas will it be accepted. On toll plazas run by local governments or state roadways, the procedure is still the same.
When compared to monthly toll passes, the government estimates that the pass can save customers between Rs 6,000 and Rs 7,000 annually. Customers are not required to apply for separate passes for various toll plazas or perform monthly top-ups. By cutting wait times and removing conflicts at toll plazas, the ruling seeks to alleviate traffic.
How is the FASTag yearly pass activated?
Only non-commercial private vehicles, such as automobiles, jeeps, and vans, will be eligible for the annual pass. The Rajmarg Yatra app or the NHAI website can be used to activate the pass, and online renewal is also an option.
There is no need to purchase a new pass because it will be enabled on the current FASTags. Mr. Gadkari previously stated that the Rajmarg Yatra App, the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) website, and the NHAI website will soon have a specific link for activation and renewal. Only the URL can be used to submit applications.
Having a FASTag from a bank or digital wallet, such as Paytm, ICICI Bank, or HDFC Bank, will make the transaction easier. Additionally, use the mobile app to access your My FASTag account.
Users will receive a confirmation message and have their FASTag pass activated once they have finished the digital payment process.
